Now, while BIM 360 Field, BIM 360 Plan, and BIM 360 Glue are still available for activation, clearly the other modules seem to be on the new platform. Firstly, I know that BIM 360 has a phone app that can be used on old projects, but I tried to see if I could create a new project on the old platform. This leaves BIM 360 and ACC – both paid services.

So, unless repeaters are used to ensure constant connectivity, this is not an option. However, it is found that, on losing connectivity, the model is lost and on reconnection, the entire model must be loaded again. The first suggestion would be to use the Autodesk Viewer. How does one have this capability going into the future? On large projects, one may use cellphone repeaters, but this is not always economically practical. Plants during construction have a reputation for causing one to lose internet signals. He would download the file to walk around a plant during construction and then refer to the model. If you want an easier way to convert the NWF to an NWD without having to manually open Navisworks and resave it, you can use the BatchTools feature in the software or create a BAT file that uses the -nwd command line switch as described under Quick Start > Command Line Options in the Help topics of the software. Can one view a 3D NWD file on an iPhone when one is not connected to the internet? Until recently a client had been using Autodesk A360 Drive, which is now retired.

You can then open that file in Freedom and view the daily updates along with the additional views that were included in the NWF.

Since you are updating the NWD daily, which is why you want the ability to externally reference it, each time you update and resave that NWD, you’ll need to open the NWF file that references it and resave that to an NWD as well. To open an NWF, you'll need to run Simulate or Manage. There is no free viewer for NWF files nor an add-on to Freedom that allows it to open additional files other than NWD/DWF.
